"String City" is a concept project that would create an enclosed elevated high speed link between a string of "villages" of across stretches such as Canada's Northern regions or in more populated areas over existing highways. Much as the railways opened up whole new towns along their route - String City will allow less dense, nature friendly communities to exist in what used to be isolated places - but offering carbon-free, accesible transport to the nearest service hub - whether medical, shopping, entertainment or whatever - in what is usually a "drive into town" time fo most suburban commuter currently.
The vehicle space would allow for high speed (2 to 3 times typical automobile speeds) drones in a secured, enclosed environment that could park anywhere along the length for controlled loading operations.
The String City concept entails a number of sub-components including:
the High Speed Carrier Drone project (hri08zc2)
A hallmark of the "string city" project is the fact that it would be an elevated enclosed bridge system which contains a number of revenue producing services - while connecting existing communities and brand new communities of the hri06b type.
the primary function is hosting the passageway for the High Speed Drone Carriers which will operate a 2 to 3 times normal highway speeds - while allowing exit at any point along the highway.
the next function will be a rooftop line of solar panels whch will extend the full length of the brdige to provide power to the batteries contained in the hollow support columns.
a power distribution system will run the full length of the system to power not only the drones, but also the communities along the way with nearly uninteruptable power - as well as connection to local generating facilities such as remote wind turbines, for load leveling, and phase control.
Fiber optic cable will run the length of the system which will connect to cellular and WiFi 7+ communication along the system
The potential for the system to host a string of data centre units is also possible - which could reduce some noise, power and even heat dissapation issues by resue in the connected housing projects.
The same sort of units used in the flex housing project could be accomodated at a third level within the bridge to provide housing infrastructure vurtually anyhwre along the line.
The bridge would be designed to withstand tornado, hurricanes and wildfires - and could provide emergency exit for communites in danger
The top area under the solar panles could also be used for foot-powered traffic (no ATV's thank you) as well as possible greenhouse locations.
