The Special Interest Group for Project Management (sig:pm) is one of the two primary sig's for Hammond River Institute's operations and development. It is dedicated to collecting and sharing "best practices" for the management of industrial and commercial projects - one of which is shaming those who use jargon from management seminars such as "best practices".
It is the Project Management group which identifies and codifies many of the common documents that people are supposed to use when they manage projects - things like "Project Plans" and "Project Charters" and "Progress Reports" which everybody expects and nobody does.
Sig:pm also has a "Pithy Sayings Department" which trots out gems of wisdom such as:
No Project has ever finished On Time, On Budget and with the same Project Team that started it;
- Yours will not be the first.
6 phases of a project
- Enthusiasm
- Confusion
- Disaster
- Search for the Guilty
- Punishment of the Innocent
- Rewards for the Non-Participants
